A completely one-of-a-kind Cwtch Cath handmade and reworked smock dress, full of colour, texture and all the slightly mismatched details I love. 💗
I hand tie-dyed the original top myself in soft washes of green, yellow and blue, then added a large green gingham flower reverse appliqué to the front. It’s finished with white lace around the sleeves, navy flower trim around the neckline and waist, and a full gathered patchwork skirt.
The skirt combines a mixture of fabrics including sparkly rainbow stripes, green gingham, delicate florals and whimsical fairy-and-flower prints, giving it a colourful cottagecore-meets-rainbow feel. 🌼🌈
As this is a reworked garment, I also want to be transparent about its handmade history: while working on the top I found a couple of small areas where the original stitching had opened into little holes. These have been carefully sewn and repaired by me before finishing the dress. 🧵💕
The original top is labelled a size Medium, but because the skirt is very full and gathered, the finished dress has a loose, floaty smock shape rather than a fitted silhouette. Size medium appropriately 12-16 depending on desired fit.
